Symptoms
In Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac, you are repeatedly prompted for authentication while you're connected to your Office 365 account. Mac operating system for iphone 5.
Activate Office 365 versions of Office for Mac. If your organization has an Office 365 (or Microsoft 365) plan, make sure you assign each user a license for Office before you deploy Office for Mac to your users. If you don't assign a user a license, you can still deploy Office for Mac to that user, but the user won't be able to activate and use Office.
Cause
- We use Office 365 at work and have the latest Office 2016 for Mac installed. My Excel version is 15.26 (160910) as is the rest of the Office apps (Outlook is 15.26.1 (160196)) and it updated 2-3 days ago through Microsoft AutoUpdate.

This issue occurs because of the presence of duplicate tokens in the keychain.
Resolution
To resolve this issue in Outlook 2016 for Mac, install the February 2017 Outlook update (version 15.31.0) from the following Office website:
Workaround
To work around this issue, delete any cached passwords for your account, and also delete any modern authentication tokens from the keychain. To do this, follow these steps.
Note
These steps affect all Office applications that use modern authentication.
Quit Outlook and all other Office applications.
Start Keychain Access by using one of the following methods:
- Select the Finder application, click Utilities on the Go menu, and then double-click Keychain Access.
- In Spotlight Search, type Keychain Access, and then double-click Keychain Access in the search results.
In the search field in Keychain Access, enter Exchange.
In the search results, select each item to view the Account that's listed at the top, and then press Delete. Repeat this step to delete all items for your Exchange account.
In the search field, enter adal.
Select all items whose type is MicrosoftOffice15_2_Data:ADAL:, and then press Delete.
In the search field, enter office.
Select the items that are named Microsoft Office Identities Cache 2 and Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2, and then press Delete.
Quit Keychain Access.
Note
When you start Outlook, you are prompted to authenticate.

Symptoms

Symptom 1
The following issues occur in the Unified Logging Service (ULS) log:
- The server has redirected to a non-https URL.
- Errors occur in Azure Active Directory Authentication Library (ADAL) authentication.
To locate the ULS log, open Finder and browse to the following path:
~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft./Data/Library/Caches/Microsoft/uls/com.microsoft./logs
Note represents the name of the application that you are troubleshooting.

Cause for symptom 2
Starting from Office 2016 for Mac version 15.33, the authentication method no longer selects NTLM authentication when multiple WWW-Authenticate headers are present in the response. The issue occurs when the selected authentication method is unsuccessful.

Resolution for symptom 1
Configure all authentication endpoints to use the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.
Resolution for symptom 2
Install the September 2017 update for Office 2016 for Mac version 15.38.
